The Whitby Sea Anglers are a rover shore fishing club whose season starts the 1st Wednesday after the ‘Scarborough Fishing Festival’ ends, in late September. Matches are fished every Wednesday and Sunday until the end of March. A season comprises of approximately 50-52 matches.
First match of the 2011-2012 season was wednesday 28th September 2011, (announced at AGM 31st Aug 2011):
WSAA have an Open Match (see below for details) which is always two weeks after the Filey Open (30th October 2011).
The first match of the season all anglers must meet at the Bandstand between 6.30 - 6.45pm (see rule 1). All new members welcome. In 2010 we had 28 members who between them caught 1738 lb of fish.

Fishing times:
7pm - 10pm Wednesday and 6pm - 10pm on Sunday, the weigh in takes place outside Whitby Angling Supplies on Haggersgate from 10pm to 1030pm.
The members meet for refreshment afterwards at the Ship Inn, food is provided on Wednesdays only.
Club Membership for adults is £20 (increased at AGM 31st Aug 2011): including an insurance premium.
Club Membership for juniors is currently £8.50 including an insurance premium.
Match entry £2 (increased at AGM 31st Aug 2011): 75% is paid out. 3/6th 1st, 2/6th 2nd and 1/6th 3rd.
The club also operates a monthly ‘heaviest fish’ and ‘heaviest bag’ sweep, singles and doubles knockouts, Christmas Match and of course the annual Open event. See Rule 14 club night boundaries, which are different to the Open match.
